Until we've finished getting all of the major gameplay information on up the board, I have decided to make this thread so that you, our lovely member base, may have something a bit more concrete to go off of when constructing your character bios, particularly their histories and any potential human interaction you would like to involve. If you have any questions, or think of something that might possibly need to be added to this timeline, drop me a PM and I'll see what I can do.
- Year 2154: Humanity, save for a rare chosen few, is driven from Pandora by the Na'vi, led by Jake Sully of the Omaticaya clan.
- Year 2154-2174: Life on Pandora begins to return to normal. The original Hell's Gate compound is left to rot, and is quickly reclaimed by the jungle. Much of the land decimated by the RDA begins to flourish once more, and the Na'vi tribes return to their original homes. The English language is quickly forgotten by many, living on only in a scattered few, eventually becoming broken and butchered from its original form.
Humanity, meanwhile, reconciles their loss. The RDA loses several major investors because of the debacle on Pandora, and though not disbanded, is severely weakened. The scientific community rallies against them, particularly after an unspecified source leaks a survival guide, written by Dr. Grace Augustine and modified by the RDA for their troops on Pandora, to the general public. What research that the humans banished from Pandora managed to bring with them is carefully studied, and new hope is born; many specimens of flora appear to have attributes that could repair and, with time, perhaps even reverse the toxic destruction humanity has caused on Earth. Debate immediately begins on sending a scientific research party back to the moon. - Year 2174: After several years of debate and argument, and several ploys by the RDA to place themselves within the sphere of humans being considered to return to Pandora, a plan is formed and approved. A handful of major investors is found to pay for the trip and the research that is to follow, and final preparation begins.
- Year 2176: The USS Green Mother, a state of the art scientific vessel, leaves Earth and begins the nearly six year trip to Pandora. She is equipped with enough supplies to maintain her crew of roughly 200 people comfortably for the next fifteen years, a time frame which is expected to be extended by use of natural resources by the crew ground-side, before either being forced to leave Pandora or send for a resupply ship. Of her crew, over three quarters are scientists, many of whom will stay aboard the Green Mother for the duration of the expedition. The rest of the crew is comprised of mechanics and other personnel key to the maintenance of all equipment (much of which is solar powered), and a very small group of security forces.
- Year 2181: USS Green Mother establishes geosynchronous orbit with the moon Pandora. Satellite recon is used to scan the moon and determine a location best suited for the research team (at the edge of the forest, on the plain to maximize solar exposure), and to locate any tribes near the proposed site. Once this is done, a hand-picked team of diplomatic scientists is sent planet-side to begin negotiations with the local Na'vi.
- Year 2186: After five years, and thankfully with limited casualties, an agreement is reached with a majority of the regional Na'vi; humanity may conduct their research, but the amount of humans permitted on the moon at any one time is to be limited. All research is to be strictly scientific and observational, and military influence kept at a minimum.
The Compound is shipped dirt-side. It is a series of atmospherically sealed prefab buildings to house the researchers during their stay on Pandora, and equipped with all of the necessities they will need. Many of the rooms are given over to lab space, and while the barracks there aren't terribly spacious, they are comfortable. There is even a fair sized rec room for downtime relaxation, all of it powered by solar panels on the roof, though there are several electric backup generators. It is also equipped with a state of the art water recycler and waste management facilities. - January 3, 2186: The first batch of crew sent down to fully establish and equip the Compound and begin the initial research is shipped back up to the Green Mother. To replace them, a second batch of crew members, comprised mainly of scientists, is sent ground-side. (Gameplay begins.)
