Breathe
Warm and sweet the morning air filled into her lungs as she drew breath slowly, the steady sound of her own heart thumping softly in her ears beneath the hiss of the wind and the groan of the mountains as they floated effortlessly above the pandoran forest. The thunder of the falls as they rose higher filled her ears and the mist clung to her skin glittering in the sun. Wind whipping the loose strands of hair away from her face, Peridot eyes flicked up at the giant Prometheus dominating the sky. This was Iknimaya, the floating mountains of Pandora and home to the tree of souls, one of their most sacred places.
Up
The coil and push of muscle beneath her, as the Ikran let a deep joyous cry as powerful wings beat the air down sending them higher and higher. This was freedom in its truest sense, and Tsa embraced it at every opportunity. Her duties to the clan had been stifling ever since the Tawtute had returned. They were simply to ignore these Tawtute, hoping they would just disappear, there had been no scouting party sent to gather information. Tsamwey couldn’t help but be curious about these people, but without the order to scout she could learn nothing of them, save what bits of their language she could talk other clans’ members into teaching her and secondhand reports.
These thoughts were pushed forcefully from her mind as they approached a forested section of mountain held to the world below by a chain of vine and stone. The Tawtute and their dream walkers were of no concern to her at the moment, she reminded herself. As Sreu landed on the ledge of the cliff next to the waterfall, the lithe Na’vi slipped from her back and did a preliminary scan of the plant carpeted ledge she had chosen. Satisfied with the tranquility and selectivity of the space she settled herself down cross-legged, letting the tip of her queue touch the ground at her back.
Meditation was about freeing the mind, emptying it of all extraneous thought, leaving it open to receive the mother’s guidance. Sitting up straight hands resting on her knees the Na’vi began to hum a low resonate note, ears flicking occasionally alert to the sound of movement, bow resting not a finger’s breadth away. Tsamwey was diligent about her morning communions, but she was not stupid enough to not remain alert to her surroundings

Calm yourself, Emza'u. Level out.
The guttural growl that the Ikran gave him made the male Na'vi smile, his blue lips drawing around his pointed ivories. His queue quivered, connected to the male Ikran's, their hearts in synch. He breathed out gently, a laugh peppering the rims of the sigh. The brute beneath him rumbled with a playful growl, dipping as the Na'vi ordered. Mist from the waterfall above them salted Txur Txe'lan's cobalt body, his baked-amber eyes flickering up to the sky above. He breathed in the sweet, crisp morning air that he glided through so easily, his hands firm around the head-crest's of his partner.
Faster, tsmukan. Up.
The male Na'vi jerked to the side as the Ikran dipped and pulled his strong body forward, his wings beating against the heavy wind. He gave a throaty cry, his gullet vibrating and his joy affecting his rider. Txur Txe'lan felt a strong sense of excitement and happiness swoop over and take hold of his body. His heart swelled in his chest, and the cocky creature beneath him flexed his shoulders, raising his skull to scent the wind. The Na'vi could scent it too. Another Na'vi. He could not tell if it was a Tawtute or not; but the smoky scent that came with them never reached his nostrils. He breathed in heavily, his eyelids sliding over his optics. Engulfed in darkness, he urged his mind to sort out the scents, all the while trusting his younger Ikran not to heave them into a narrow gouge in the Iknimaya. His eyes opened suddenly, and Emza'u gave a shriek. The male Na'vi patted the neck of his mount.
It is another Na'vi, my friend. Do not fret. Now, faster, and pull up.
His face became stern as the wind howled around him, the beast's body curving and pirouetting in the sky. He ducked out of the way of a stray vine as the Ikran swirled around one of the many floating islands, crumbling bits of boulder falling to the endless blue below. He cupped a hand to his mouth as he saw the female in question.
"Kaltxì, tsmuke!" [Translation] "Hello, sister!"

"Kaltxì, tsmuke!" The clear resonate notes of her lilting alto ceased to spring from her lips ears twitching in the direction of the voice. Brilliant Peridot eyes flicked open and the tendrils of her queue disconnected from Tsahaylu with the earth as she pulled herself up from the soft cool patch of moss, all four toes digging in as long legs straightened out drawing the Na’vi woman to her full height in one fluid motion. Shielding her eyes against the morning sun it did not take her long to spot the interloper, soaring level with the mountain. She cupped her hands about her lips and cried out in greeting.
”Kaltxì, Tsmukan! Tsamsiyu ta olo' Rokure kame nga!
In the next breath a trill rose from Tsamwey’s throat and from a ledge above a response echoed through the mountains. Launching into the sky brilliant amethyst shone as Sreu dove down the sheer cliff face spreading her wings in time to land astride her rider. Delicate fingers stroked the head of the Ikran, the trilling purr in the creatures throat causing a smile to form on the Na’vi’s lips.
” Come down brother, and let us talk a while.” She called out again to the warrior.
Tawsreu echoed Tsa’s request with one of her own, though judging from the trilling and the gender of the warrior’s Ikran, Tsamwey was sure she wouldn’t care much for the Na’vi translation, and wouldn’t approve anyway. She gave a stern look at the creature shaking her head, before nudging the Ikran to move to allow space for the other to land if he should so chose. If he chose to continue on his way, she decide she would simply head on to the tree of souls for her weekly pilgrimage as the sky seemed unusually crowded today.
[Translation] Greetings brother, a warrior of the Rokure clan see’s you! [/center]

((do you have room for another to join you? Tìrol wants to have a little fun! << These indicate Na’vi spoken words >> ))
Come Song, my friend, you are not tired already are you?
The teasing thought to her ikran had him clicking his jaws at her and fluting out his annoyance, the same emotions flowing from him to her. Laughing, one long fingered hand trailed away from her side to pat lightly against his neck. Up here, in the clear morning air, there was nothing to worry about…no future lessons on English from the friendly toktor Ro’land, no odd encounters or future encounters with over buff dreamwalker guards like that Sev character, no wondering about where her brother Raiko had gotten off to, no herb medicine lessons from the Aylukana toktor, no watching borders, no hunting for food, just…freedom. It thrilled in her blood, coursing along her veins, singing in her ears and along the tsahaylu with her closest friend Hufwe’tìrol.
A deep, rumbling, haunting call trilled out from him and broke against the relatively cool morning air, the glistening rays of purple, green and blue along his form dazzling her golden eyes as she allowed him to fly free and carry her whither he would. This…this was how life should be! Tìrol nearly seemed to chuckle below her, his form vibrating in another rumble from deep in his chest. His amusement was echoed by her own as she chuckled along with him and lifted herself in her crafted saddle. They had spent too much time simply gliding along.
Come brother! Let us REALLY fly!
Four sapphire eyes glinted happily as he trumpeted out his pleasure at the suggested “command,” his brilliant voice echoing against the floating mountains that surrounded them. Those bioluminescent lights along her skin glinted a happy green as she echoed his rapture with a trilled cry of her own, expelling the old air in her lungs so she could fill them once more before they went spiraling downward. Her queue fluttered about in the up-rush of wind, beating against her azure and stripped arm as it and her tail worked to keep her balanced in the near free fall, lean legs working to keep her in place.
<<Up!>>
Strong and patterned wings unfolded with a snap as that long neck tilted back toward her again, the rest of his large body following through. Their shadow stretched along one of the lower mountains, cast long in the rising sun and flickering over another Na’vi and her own friend. She called her greeting to another in the air and Liyani grinned, her heart swelling with joy at seeing two others enjoying the morning as well. Tìrol, feeling gregarious today it seemed, trilled out his greeting to the little sister he saw on the rock face with her Na’vi and tugged against Liyani’s hands, urging her to allow him down.
<<Calm big brother, we should see if they want us first.>>
She said gently to him, stroking the crown of his head between his to sets of eyes with a four fingered hand and a smile. Tìrol was persistent, tugging once more against her hands and she chuckled, finally giving in and allowing him to stoop down upon the mountain. As he came lower toward the two, and the third flying near, she held up a hand in greeting.
<<A good morning Brother! Sister! A hunter-warrior of Aylukana clan sees you! May I join you? Ikran brother Tìrol is persistent we do!>>
As her great ikran sang out his greeting and agreement to the others, Liyani kept her friend in the air, spiraling an updraft close to where the others were without impeding the man’s flight, or crowding the woman’s place on the floating isle of rock and vine.

He smiled, the lyrics rolling off his tongue. "Ulte taronyu Aylukana kame ngenga." He held out his bow in greeting and lashed his tail, gently ushering his Ikran to the ground. "Ftue, Emza'u, ftue." he murmured, patting the mighty neck of the beast as it coasted to the brink of the cliff, giving a guttural croon to his rider as the male slid off his slick back. He rubbed his partner's neck and patted the crest of his jaw a bit, turning his optics to the female in question. He dipped his head regally, standing quite over her.
"'Awve ultxa-ri ohengevä nawm-a sa'nok lrrtok." He held a fist to the right of his chest and brought his skull to face her, his lips curled in the minimal but all very inanimate lines of a cartoon, a smile that lit his concave features. Emza'u placed the crown of his beak into his shoulder, giving a coarse growl. The male Na'vi tethered his bow behind his back, his ears flicking back against his skull at the arrival of this third Na'vi.
"Za'u tawng, tsmuke. Oel ngati kameie." He smiled softly at her, and Emza'u chittered in defense at her brute. Txur Txe'lan placed a warm, stern hand on the gullet of his partner, giving a trill tone to the Ikran and clicking his molars. The beast lowered his body, vibrating with his silent growls. "Ftue, Emza'u." he ushered, his open palm hovering over the crest of the male's skull. He gave a grunt and shifted in his stance, breathing roughly, his wings tucked beneath him. [ . t r a n s l a t i o n . ] "And a warrior of the Aylukana see's you. "Calm, Emza'u, calm." "May the Great Mother smile upon our first meeting." "Come down, sister. I See You." (In this form of 'you' /ngenga/, it is the formal or spiritual sense. Yea, just if you were wondering why they were spelled different (: )

There was nothing to be said for Tawsreu’s behavior, the female seemed to quite enjoy the attention she was attracting, and well at least in Sreu’s mind it could only be her that attracted such magnificent males. Eyes a hue deeper than her riders glinted as she clicked and tutted at the male landing, before turning her attention to the one in the sky flicking her tail impatiently. It was enough to make Tsamwey gag some times, the sheer gumption of the female often left the Na’vi woman bewildered. Then again if the Ikran had her way Tsamwey would be mated already to a warrior whose mount could keep up with Tawsreu, fortunately for Tsa, none had asked. The Na’vi gave a disapproving chirp at the over grown flirtatious lizard (who seemed still intent on taunting the sky bound male) before turning her attention fully to the warrior of the Aylukana clan who had landed.
“Eywa smiles indeed, it is a rare treat indeed to cross the paths of so many fine warriors in one day, especially of the Aylukana Clan, I hadn’t expected to see your clan here so early in the season. I am Tsamwey daughter of Mohab, Warrior of the Rokure on pilgrimage to the sacred tree.”
Tawsreu had inched closer to the landed Ikran, inspecting him briefly eyes flicking between the two males tail swishing back and forth as she warbled and chittered as though conversing in a language all their own. Though her head did tilt as she heard Tsa speak.
“That ill mannered beast is Tawsreu, please forgive her forward behavior . . . She likes to think that the world revolves around her, she’s a bit of a show off.” Though Tsa’s expression was a stern one, she could not keep the good natured smile down for long, the Ikran simply chirped before inspecting the second male after his landing, warbling softly all the while.
Tsa smiled with the Female Na’vi dismounted greeting her warmly. ” Oel ngati kameie”

It promised to be a good day indeed as she was called down by her Aylukana brother. Tìrol crooned his approval as his Na’vi little sister allowed him to spiral downward toward his two brethren. With a chuckle, Liyani shook her head at the preening and trilling female ikran as she flashed and flicked her tail to taunt the males as if she were in heat…not that Tìrol seemed to care over much either way. Golden eyes swept over the skyscape one last time, almost loathe to leave the air, but at the last she requested him to land, the dust and dirt on the rocky mountain top the others sat upon kicking up slightly as he swept around for his preferred method of landing…odd creature he was. Lean blue frame braced itself against his thick neck only moments before the bulk of the great creature shifted vertically and slammed against the cliff face, thick talons scraping along the crags as he pulled himself upward clicking and huffing happily at her.
As he finally hefted the both of them up to the top and over the edge with a rather proud growl, Liyani rolled her eyes at him and hopped down from his back. Golden gaze shifted about to the others, her sleek face turning toward them. Ah, Txur…a warrior of her own clan. She didn’t know him well, only having met him once or twice…and it wasn’t as if she pretended to know all of her clan brothers or sisters…but she had heard his name and seen his face enough to tell who it was.
<<Greeting brother Txur, I did not expect to see you until perhaps at night meal this day. You hide well among the clan.>>
She was teasing him, of course, the bright smile on her face making it clear even if her light hearted voice did not. As her sister warrior spoke, Liyani grinned back at her, tail flicking behind her happily as she took the breath to reply. Unfortunately her thoughts were silenced before she could speak them as Tirol chuffed loudly beside her ear, making her hair flutter in his hot breath. With a belabored sigh, over dramatized to taunt her ikran (and perhaps get a chuckle from the others), Liyani turned back to her friend…who obviously was expecting SOMETHING from her. Praise, most likely, for getting them up the cliff safely. With a chuckle, she disentangled her queue from him and pressed her forehead to his, stroking along the sides of his face.
<<Yes…thank you brother for getting us safely up that cliff…you are so strong….vain ikran.>>
With a playful bump to his head with her own, she let go of him, pressing his face away with a chuckle and turning back to the others.
<<Hello sister, I am Unil’tirea’taliyani…though I think Taliyani or Liyani will be…less of a strain to remember.>>
A light hearted laugh followed and she smoothed out the end of her queue.
<<I am amazed, sometimes, that even I remember it! And worry not about your friend...I am sure Tirol will not mind her.>>
It seemed to be true enough. After stretching his neck in the direction of the other male and taking in a few large huffs of air to get his scent, Tirol had rumbled his greeting, rustling his wings slightly and clicking his great maw at the smaller male in a friendly manner. The male ikran version of a hearty hello and hand shake. As the female came over, looking him over and chittering at him, he let out a more docile trill and sniffed at her for a moment as he fanned out his tail, swishing it behind him for a moment. With the greetings done, the glossy male came up behind Liyani once more and wrapped his great tail around her protectively, crooning his affection and nuzzling up against her arm gently.

Emza'u chirped gently to the female beside him , flexing his wings and making a guttural growl of approval. He shook his neck and folded his wings neatly beneath his bod, lowering himself beside Txur Txe'lan, clicking his beak at the chipper female beside him, clicking his beak and shifting his body, his muscles rippling beneath the paper-thin veil of burnished orange skin. The male Na'vi smiled gently at his partner as he pressed the crest of his beak into his cobalt-blue thigh. "And my partner shall not have any trouble with your lovely female either." he said, turning towards Talau.
"As well as you, my sister. I do not normally sight you either; I am always open for a hunting trip. Come find me whenever you need." He flashed his ivories in a gentle, brotherly smile and turned back to the other female. "Greetings, Tsamwey. I am Txur Txe'lan son of Kah'ley Mohad. I am here on a training flight with brother Emza'u." He smiled at the affectionate nudges from his mount, and clicked his molars together, an equally affectionate tone of reply that Emza'u gave a guttural bellow to. He smiled and whacked the side of the Ikran's neck with his tail, followed by an equally brotherly tap from the beast.
"Yes, but I must assure you, he does not play well with other males." He snapped his jaws at his Ikran as the brute cast a glare to the male beside him. The Ikran growled, ,a low, serious tone, and slunk back a bit, chittering his defense. The Na'vi sighed and shook his profiled head. "I apologize for this one." he murmured, crossing his arms across his broad chest.

Sensing the tension in the part of the first male, Tawsreu positioned herself between the two males, content to have the company of her own kind. She seemed happy to chirp away with Emza’u, perhaps having the sense to at least try and keep the male occupied. Tsamwey smiled sweetly, content to speak with her Na’vi brethren.
“Well met Txur and Taliyani, May the mother bless your travels.” The young female chimed. She gave a more serious glance at the two clansmen. “In these times I imagine all Na’vi could use the extra training. . .” her gaze trails off in the reported direction of the human encampment tail flicking anxiously. It is the things she does not say that seem to weigh most heavily.
“It saddens me that my clan has been so Isolated in these times, I remember when I would trade with the other clans almost weekly, now it seems many moons must pass before we leave the safety of the Aerie.” The tones in her voice do not indicate disrespect to her leaders, but they do carry the sadness and frustration at the current state of things.
She turns her eyes to the other female, a smile forcing its way across her lips. “Sister you did not say what brought you to the Iknimaya, Do you too pilgrimage to the well of souls? Perhaps we can fly together if you wish?” ______ OCC: Bleh bad, next will be better

Liyani chuckled a bit as Tìrol curled himself around her and gave a gentle tug on her clothing. Yielding to his whim, she crouched down there, in the protective circle he’d made about her with his body and leaned back against his warm side, earning a contented groan and sigh of air from the great beast. Shaking her head, she turned her eyes back to her Aylukana brother.
I will be sure to remember this. I must find you first, though. Perhaps that will be the greater hunt…finding brother Txur amongst the clansmen! A hunt worthy of song, yes?
She teased lightly, chuckling again and grinning up at him. With a nod to his warning, she looked over into the eyes of her great companion, pulling his face over with her hand under his jaw.
Do you hear this? Be polite. I want no fighting today.
His posture tensing as he brought his head up, the large ikran looked almost affronted that she would accuse him of being anything BUT polite, clicking his jaws at her and telling her in his deep voice, and in no uncertain terms, that he was most displeased with the fact that she’d even suggested otherwise. Butting the crest of his head against her shoulder, Tìrol made sure to thwack her with his tail as well for good measure.
I’m just making sure, no need to get upset.
She countered, pushing his head away again before stroking gently along it. Turning her eyes back to her brethren, Liyani sighed a bit, not having missed that look toward the sky person camp, nor the silence that spoke so loudly
Well met indeed, but I did not catch your name, sister, as I was half way down the cliff with my friend here.
Pausing for a moment, Liyani pondered what to say. It was a sticky subject at best. Many had lost family the last time the sky people were on Pandora, but she had met a few that were not so bad. The tribes that lived furthest from their camp seemed to have the worst opinions of them because they were not dealing with them on a semi-regular basis. By the time she had finished with her comments, Liyani nodded quietly. Finally she decided to be blunt.
You seem very troubled by the sky people, Sister, speak to us…we will listen. Do not let silence speak so loudly, it rarely helps others to understand. I do understand, though, about your sadness. My brother is a warrior in your clan. It has been a long while since I have seen him because of the distance and that your clan has become so isolated. Is this a choice of the clan, or is it something your olo’eyktan asks of you?
Allowing time for her to respond, Liyani pondered the question posed to her, running her fingers along the leathery side of Tìrol. Really there was no specific reason she was there, aside from just to be there. Tìrol nudged against her arm lightly and crooned softly at her before nipping playfully at the tip of her tail as it swayed past his field of vision.
I am here for no real reason. I enjoy flying, and allow Tìrol to carry me where he wishes many times. I will travel with you to the Tree of Souls, however, if you wish. I have only been there twice in my life…but those were years ago.
It was true, Liyani had only traveled all the way to the Tree of Souls twice in her life. Once after bonding with Tìrol, and once five years ago when the sky people had returned and her dreams had become more troubled because of her anxious and uncertain mind. She had needed Eywa’s guidance and the small tree of voices near to their Hometree gave her little solace. She had felt she’d needed something more, so she had taken the sojourn to the Na’vi’s most sacred grounds, remaining there for several days, fasting as she listened to the voices of her people and of Eywa. For a moment, the thirty-four year old seemed lost in the memories before returning to them with a small smile, the bioluminescent lights along her skin tinting a light blue.
Why do you sojourn, sister?

((OOC: I thought I might drop by here if you don't mind. I wanted to get a sense for this character and this seemed the perfect oppurtunity as her research revolves around Ikran-Na'vi interaction. Don't worry, I'm fairly far away, you don't even have to take notice of me if you don't want to.))
Breathe
Yes, that's it. Nice an easy...take in the cool mountain air, fill your nostrils with the clean scent of the wildflowers--granted you can wiff it past the burning oil. All is peaceful here. Calm is the center of all, not calamity--ignore that clanking sound, you can fix it later--let the peace wash over you. Let it become you. Now harness it and take yourself away...
Up
A shudder and a groan. It may have even dropped several feet. There was no more unity here than between the shepherd and a large boulder. Wings creaked as they fluttered feebly, engine coughed at every fleck of dust.
Up
A slight dip to port-- No! It would soon become a bank and that into a tumble. With one part hopeful coaxing and another of blind luck, this could be remedied-- too much! Now she tumbled starboard.
UP!!!
Sharon wrenched the controls down and to the left. The entomopter sputtered in protest but conceded at last flinging Sharon back against the seat as it ascended. This was getting ridiculous, what had she been thinking going out on an exhibition today? Atmospheric weather readings had not been pretty at the lab that morning and yet she had taken her chances and flown straight through that small tempest. Correction: tried to fly straight through. It hadn't been very straight, in fact, it STILL wasn't very straight.
Damn it all! She hissed through clenched teeth as she struggled to keep her craft from smearing her against the surrounding monoliths of the Iknimaya. It's no use, must have jarred loose a stabilizer or miscalibrated one of the gyromoscoptical thingies. I need to set down now or set down for good...
Putting every ounce of her will and concentration onto keeping the make-shift, fluttering aircraft balance enough to make a landing survivable, she more or less pointed in the general direction of a relatively flat mountain and began hobbling through the air towards it. Several Ikran had noticed the presence of this strange creature, some even supposing it to be one of their own from the size and paint. Sharon had done this somewhat purposely with the intentions of it attracting less attention, but now it had the opposite effect as yet another Ikran nudged the craft in concern for its "health" knocking it dangerously off balance once more. Sharon's hand started to move to the sidearm at her waist. It was loaded with non-lethal electrical deterant rounds, but the last thing she needed was the concerned, curious Ikrans to become confused, angry Ikrans. Her hand returned its white knuckle grip to the controls.
Altimeters were frizzled, barometers were frazzled, rudder control was grizzled, and the radio was...well...it just ran out of batteries. All other electronic equipment was suffering the effects of the Iknimaya's flux vortex. Thankfully, Sharon had designed the entomopter for traversing just these areas and could therefore completely control the craft manually...when it was completely intact that is. The incessant whine of the engine dropped in pitch and rapidity, the feeble wing beats becoming few and farther between until eventually she found herself whirling down......down.............down........
Sharon rubbed her head where it had smacked against the canopy during her gloriously successful crash landing, or is "successful crash landing" an oximoron of sorts? Either way, she was more or less happy to be alive as she stumbled out of the smoking cockpit. The wreck was reviewed with a facepalm and a tired gaze. Wonderful. Just wonderful. Structural damage, electrical systems fried, no doubt the gyroscopics are hopelessly jarred...huff...AND WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT?!
The Ikran she was addressing lifted back its head and tilted it to one side. Deciding the strange, hopeless little creature was no important matter, it took its leave on the strong beat of a wing as if to mock Sharon by saying "bet you wish you could do this now". She scowled after it as it glided around one of the island-mountains and out of sight. Just before she turned back to begin sorting out the wreck, a movement on the mountainside the Ikran had just flown around caught her attention. Reaching into her waist pack, she withdrew a small pair of binoculars and scoped in on the creatures.
....Na'vi? Bitterness and anger evaporated to make room for eccentric excitement. What incredible luck! Sure she had come through these mountains several times in the past, but never had fortune smiled widely enough upon her to witness Na'vi-Ikran interactions!
Forgetting completely about her predicament, she half-ran back to the cockpit and pulled out her notebooks and research equipment. There was no chance she was wasting such an oppurtunity, smashed up entomopter or intact! Without turning to look at the couple Ikran still prodding at her craft, she addressed them fleetingly. Don't chew on it, don't swallow any of the small parts, don't rest on it, don't rifle through it, and most importantly don't do.....things.....to it. It is only painted to LOOK like one of you guys.

He laughed softly, and his partner gave a chirp of amusement. "That would indeed be a hunt worthy of the Ancestors songs!" he teased back, smiling warmly at her. Emza'u chittered gruffly, flexing his wings beneath him, nudging gently for attention. The older Na'vi ignored his partner, subtract the pat of the head he gave the brute, and turned his attention towards the younger female, allowing her to speak her mind. He nodded along gently, although he knew he and his clan were on fine terms with the Tawtute. He gave a curt nod to Liyani, gently shifting his gaze from her to Tsamwey as he spoke.
"Whatever you need to speak of, we shall listen. Our opinions do not cloud our minds, however, and we shall not try to bend yours." He smiled warmly at her, his fangs glinting in the sunlight that warmed his back. Clicking his beak, the Ikran behind him gave a friendly purr to the female beside him, happy she was closer. Txur gave him a stern yet playful glare and cuffed him on the back of the jaw with his tail. "Silly Ikran." he ground out affectionately, and the beast gave him a cocky grunt in reply.
The male's auds pressed back against his head, folding slightly. His head swiveled on his shoulders, pupils dilating; the only emotion that bled through his dried-amber orbs was vague alarm. An odd creaking sound had stammered off the tongue of the air, one that had come with a human's machine. Had he known what is was, he might have calmed himself. But the probability that it was a weapon of some sorts was a vague silken thread inked into the brain, and he wasn't about to take chances.
Loose sod fell to the blue below as he brought a foot to rest on the dried edge of the cliff on which the trio stood, his lips parted barely, tail twitching in anxiety. "Did you hear that?" he murmured, eyes flickering around their surroundings, his hands at his sides, shivering in their attempt to stay there and not snap to his bow and dagger. He held a hand out to Emza'u, who had bristled in defense and taken a shift forward. Although his clan was comfortable with humans, he hadn't actually met any, and how did he know if some of them were ... violent?
The alien scent of humans drifted against the breath of the breeze, and as he inhaled more of it, the smoke scent that accommodated them filled his nose. Where was this being? He took a step back, narrowing his eyes. "I don't like this."
