Located light years from Citadel Space, Omega has no laws. Here criminal lords reign supreme and the rules depend on whether or not you happen to be in favor. Omega has one type of crowd; those that need something, those that have something, and those who hope to gain something through the cold steel within their hands. A space station ruled entirely by criminal activities, it's hard to believe that some of its inhabitants might be able to save the world from the oncoming destruction.
Several years ago the heart of Citadel space, the Citadel, was attacked by a sentient machine by the name of Sovereign. This machine claimed to be a Reaper from Dark space and its main purpose was to wipe out all organic life so that its kind might utilize the technology onto their own. Millenniums old, these Reapers have been in the business of destroying organic life once it becomes too complex for many cycles before, as they had with the Protheans. After Sovereign was destroyed the galaxy panicked, humanity rose up to the challenge and gained a spot on the council.
Commander Shepard, an elite agent for the council called a spectre, lead the charge against the Reapers. The original Spectre to discover the plot against the universe, Shepard was over qualified for the job. Unfortunately Shepard was killed in an attack on the Normandy which left half the crew misplaced and sealed the hunt for the Reapers off into an alliance filing cabinet. With no one qualified for the job anymore, the search went cold.
That is, until Ceberus found it.
An underground organization whose main purpose is to develop weapons and intelligence, Cerberus recognized the threat that this invasion posed and, when colonies started to disappear, Cerberus decided it was time to take action. Their goal was to stop the Collectors, a group of hostile insectile 'bugs' with highly advanced technology. The connection between the disappearances, the Collectors, and the Reapers was incredibly clear to the underground organization and, in order to stop them, they needed a team lethal and crazy enough to risk their lives fighting these things.
Omega has always been known for its lawlessness and the individuals that it attracts, making it the perfect place for Cerberus to start its base of actions and recruit mercenaries of the right caliber. They are seeking out highly trained, dangerous, and sometimes even mentally unstable individuals to travel out into Dark Space and destroy the Collectors. Loyalty is only an added bonus and ruthlessness is a selling point. Hopefully, with their gathered team of assassins, mercenaries, and elites they can stop the threat of the Collectors and the omnipresent Reapers.
