Pronunciation: ah-lay-HYOO-aye-ee
Location: A tribe of ocean dwelling Na'vi, the Alehuai live in a large grotto at the edge of a large sea to the south of the human Compound. Their primary habitat are the cliffs and the nearby beach shore. There are docks for their ships (mostly small fishing vessels) along the beach, primitive in design, that consists of a small floating platform anchored to the ocean floor by rocks. The boats are tied to these platforms.
Their nearest tribal neighbors are the Itami, who wander the vast miles of plains that separate the Alehuai from the forest to the north.
Special Characteristics:
- Skin tends toward more aqua hued tones to help them blend with their watery home.
- Unmatched in their ability to swim; young Na'vi are introduced to the ocean almost before they can walk, and taught to swim.
- Hunt primarily with spears and water bows. These bows are short, and designed to fire small, barbed arrows that are tied to a rope attached to the quiver to keep the ensnared fish from getting away. They also use simple fishing poles and nets.
Diet:
- Fish, mussels, and crustaceans
- Various types of seaweeds and kelp
- Native fruits and vegetables that can be found in the surrounding grassland or growing from the short, scrubby trees along the upper beach
- Hexapede and sturmbeest herds that wander close from the nearby plains
Mounts:
- Ikran: the journey to Iknimaya is long and arduous from the Alehuai lands; it takes days to reach the majestic floating mountains. Only the strongest of warriors attempt the journey, and not all return with an Ikran, or at all. The bonded banshees make their homes on the high cliffs above the grotto.
- Pa'li: the most common mount for the Alehuai because of their proximity to the plains. Given that very few clan members see a need to wander too far from their ocean fastness, nine out of ten will simply stick with a Pa'li over an Ikran unless they are to be a warrior.
- Mounts/bondings not allowed: Thanator/Palulukan, Leonopteryx/Toruk, Titanothere, Viperwolf/Nantang, unnamed sea creatures.
Tribal Hierarchy: Led by an Olo'etykan and a Tsahik, who oversee the welfare and care of the tribe. The heir and other children of the clan leaders are respected, but as with every other Na'vi in the tribe, are expected to prove their worth by helping to care for the Alehuai clan. They are offered no leniency nor are they granted special status simply because of their blood.
Politics:
Humans: Hostile. Most Alehuai will kill a human or avatar on sight. Were they able to garner more support from fellow Na'vi tribes, the Alehuai would be at the forefront of any attempt to chase humanity from Pandora.
Other Na'vi: Neutral. The Itami are the only other clan they have consistent contact with. The Alehuai are content to remain on peaceful terms with most other clans, though a distinct tension lies between them and the Aylukana, who have a more open, lenient relationship with the sky people.
Additional Notes: None at this time.
