| A Y L U K A N A |
Pronunciation: AY-loo-KAH-nah
Location: The Aylukana make their home in a portion of the vast forests that cover Pandora. Their range is wide, and it often takes them close to the southern plains occupied by the Itami clan and, by proxy, the human Compound.
Their nearest tribal neighbors are the Itami, who wander the vast miles of plains that separate the Aylukana from the ocean to the south.
Special Characteristics:
- Widest range of skin colors, ranging from pale sky blue to dark indigo.
- They are the largest of the local tribes in number.
- Hunt primarily with bow and arrow, and are known to coat the arrow heads with a variety of organic compounds, most of them deadly. Because of their knowledge of herbal lore and access to a large variety of different plants, they are often the tribe that any seriously ill or injured Na'vi will seek for aid and succor.
Diet:
- Hexapede and sturmbeest
- Grubs and other non-toxic insects
- Nuts
- A wide variety of fruits and vegetables
- Freshwater fish
Mounts:
- Ikran: traveling to Iknimaya from Hometree is a long trek, though not so much as it is for more distant tribes. Ikran are more common among the Aylukana, though they are again the chosen mounts for warriors, while a simple hunter will stick with a Pa'li. Bonded Ikran nest high in the branches of Hometree.
- Pa'li: just as numerous in the forest as on the plains, the Pa'li is a favored mount. Due to the fact that the Aylukana often travel via the large network of branches in the canopy to avoid predation on the ground, however, Pa'li are generally reserved for those who need to travel long distances in a short time, hunters, and gatherers.
- Mounts/bondings not allowed: Thanator/Palulukan, Leonopteryx/Toruk, Titanothere, Viperwolf/Nantang, Slingers, Prolemuris.
Tribal Hierarchy: Led by an Olo'etykan and a Tsahik, who oversee the welfare and care of the tribe. The heir and other children of the clan leaders are respected, but as with every other Na'vi in the tribe, are expected to prove their worth by helping to care for the Aylukana clan. They are offered no leniency nor are they granted special status simply because of their blood.
Politics:
Humans: Neutral friendly. While humanity and avatars are not permitted into Hometree, or on the lands immediately surrounding it, they are able to walk the forest unharmed by any Na'vi of the Aylukana tribe. Not all clan members are pleased by this decision, of course, but for now, they maintain their peace. While it is not outright forbidden for clan members to visit the human Compound, it is generally firmly dissuaded.
Other Na'vi: Neutral friendly. The Aylukana see no reason to foster ill feelings among the other tribes, and while they will defend themselves and their home against attack, they do not act toward any other Na'vi with hostility.
Additional Notes: None at this time.
