| I T A M I |
Pronunciation: ee-TAH-mee
Location: As a tribe of hunter-gatherers, the Itami do not have any one place they call home. They live in huts constructed of bone, wood, and hide that are easy to assemble and disassemble, and that can be made into compact bundles for easy travel. Their migratory path does remain similar from year to year, however, and they will often reuse campsites that they occupied in the past.
Because of their constant traveling, their nearest tribal neighbor alternates between the coastal Alehuai to the south and the forest dwelling Aylukana to the north.
Special Characteristics:
- Darker skin coloration due to almost constant exposure to the sun.
- There is not a Na'vi alive who can match an Itami's skill on the back of a Pa'li. Whether it be simply riding or hunting, the Itami come to know these creatures so thoroughly that, while traveling, they can cross greater distances because they sleep in the saddle, allowing the Pa'li to continue to move.
- They primarily hunt with spears and bows. An Itami long bow can shoot an arrow farther than any other bow, and they are quite accurate at a distance if in the right hands. They also employ bolas to hunt from horseback.
Diet:
- Hexapede and sturmbeest
- Grubs and non-toxic insects
- Fruits and vegetables as can be found on their travels
- Freshwater fish
Mounts:
- Pali: the only mount an Itami Na'vi will take. The wide, flat grasslands they call home are perfect for this creature, and the Itami keep a herd of them with the clan at all times.
- Ikran: not a viable mount because there is no place for any bonded banshee to roost.
- Mounts/bondings not allowed: Thanator/Palulukan, Leonopteryx/Toruk, Titanothere, Viperwolf/Nantang.
Tribal Hierarchy: Led by an Olo'etykan and a Tsahik, who oversee the welfare and care of the tribe. The heir and other children of the clan leaders are respected, but as with every other Na'vi in the tribe, are expected to prove their worth by helping to care for the Itami clan. They are offered no leniency nor are they granted special status simply because of their blood.
Politics:
Humans: Neutral. Because of their precarious geographic location between two clans of such differing opinions, and because of a natural lack of trust for humanity, the Itami as a whole tend to remain neutral on the subject. Individual members have their own personal opinions, of course.
Other Na'vi: Neutral, leaning toward friendly. Much like the Aylukana, the Itami see no reason to foster hostility toward the other Na'vi tribes. Because of their inherent nomadic lifestyle, however, they are not quite so trusting or as friendly to outsiders.
Additional Notes: None at this time.
