Common Name: Binary sunshine
Na'vi Name: Penghrrap, or "danger-teller"
Taxonomy: Lucinaria fibriata, or "fringed lamp"
Botanical Description: Herbaceous plant with bulbous leaves attached close to the main stem. Leaves are strongly bioluminescent. Each leaf can be detached and will grow a new plant from roots at its base. Nervous system gives it animal-like intelligence and response system.
Ecology: Leaves glow with bioluminescence in response to tension and danger. Serve as warning sentinels in the forest.
Ethnobotany: Na'vi recognize the level of a nearby danger by "reading" the colors of the leaves. Glowing leaves are also used for lighting.
