Common Name: Chalice plant
Na'vi Name: Yomioang, or "animal eater"
Taxonomy: Pseudocenia rosea. Named for resemblance to Earth's pitcher plant Sarracenia and its rosy color. Contains abundant nectar that attracts small animals.
Height: Grows 5 to 6 meters above ground
Spread: One and a half to two and a half meters at widest point
Ecology: Animals enter the plant, are trapped in the pitcher, and can only move down. Enzymes inside the plant body digest animals for nutrition.
Note: The giant pitchers are large enough to trap a man. Na'vi children learn very early of the danger of chalice plants through songs that are accompanied by a humorous, almost slapstick-like dance.
