Human Physical Description:
At first glance, few would consider Nemo beautiful- a more appropriate word for her is different. Standing at 4’11” without heels, she can just reach five feet if she stands as tall as possible. She carries that difficult balance between muscle and agility- though not hugely muscular; wielding huge guns has given her noticeable upper-body strength. She also has that feline grace which can allow her to move invisibly. Most of Nemo’s height is devoted to her legs, which are long, considering the stature of the rest of her body. Nature has not gifted Nemo with womanliness- though she has a chest of average size, the curvature necessary for a woman has been mostly killed off by her working out, and her hips are barely noticeable. Nemo also has tattoos, although they’re rarely visible- done in blue, they cover the left of her neck and her entire left arm and shoulder in blue Celtic knot-work. The tattoo hides several severe scars along those areas, and they’ve almost been rendered invisible- however, Nemo does also have uncovered scars. On her back, from the base of her neck to the small of her back, she is covered with scars of varying degrees of severity- some are white, some are pink, and some are still bloody. These scars are the result of one too many whippings by angry soldiers.
Nemo’s face is the most striking thing about her- though considered odd, she has been called exotic. She has very distinct, noble features with an arched brow, an oval face, a prominent nose, and drawn, full lips. From her father, her skin is very dark, chocolate brown, and her weathered face, height, and face shape often leads her, more often than not, to be mistaken for a boy. While most people of her skin tone would have dark hair and dark eyes, Nemo, however, out of aesthetic values, wears sharp jade green contacts, and dyes her hair bright orange. Untied, it reaches her waist. She keeps it in cornrows almost all the time and coiled up in a rimmed black felt hat that she holds near and dear to her.
Nemo’s clothing also leads her to be mistaken for a boy, as none of the apparel she carries with her was made for a woman. She has two sets of bulletproof armour and one set of clothing. Nemo’s two armour sets are both very light, being made out of mostly thick Kevlar. The first set she wears at night, and is entirely black- the pants are tight and form-fitting, and the shirt covers her from neck to thigh. She also has a short, thick pair of gloves to match. The second armour set is, again, thick Kevlar, but has been dyed and mottled with bright colours for camouflage reasons, as Nemo spends most of her time out in the forests whenever she isn’t in the compound. This armour is thicker and harder to move in, as Nemo usually depends on staying invisible and unmoving if she happens to be in danger. The design is generally similar to the black armour aside from a few texture differences. Nemo’s clothing for the compound is common and casual- jeans and t-shirts in greys and blacks. Nemo has two sets of boots- one pair is thick, for traversing in the wilderness and also for casual wear, with small, but noticeable heels. The other pair is black, but with two-inch heels if she happens to come across the need to appear taller. Finally, Nemo has a dark chocolate leather belt used for carrying her small knives.
Avatar Physical Description:
Nemo has only been in her avatar once or twice, but she already strongly prefers it to her human body. Though it’s rather short for a Na’vi, barely clearing eight and a half feet, it’s a definite improvement from her human height of 4’11”. Besides that, it’s lithe and wiry and yet powerful, like Nemo’s human form, which is comfortable for her. Even the sweeping tail is helpful, because it gives a stronger sense of balance. The avatar has the very long body and slim frame typical of a Na’vi, but also possesses the fine musculature that gives no sense of frailty despite its thin proportions. Its skin is cyan-coloured, and its eyes are deep amber. Though large and round like a Na’vi’s, they are slightly tilted and almond-shaped, and the features are sharp, making the face similar to Nemo’s human one. The hair is thick and straight like a Na’vi’s, but is also a lighter shade of brown than the typical black. It grows to Nemo’s shoulders, while her queue hangs to her waist. The only notable difference between the avatar and Na’vi are Nemo’s sharp features, as well as her fingers and toes- she has ten, as opposed to Na’vi, who have eight.
Nemo chooses brightly coloured clothing when in her avatar, unlike the basic greys and blacks she wears in the compound. At night, she wears Kevlar beneath bright blue outfits to blend in with the bioluminescence. She also sometimes paints herself with scented markings since it makes her seem less alien to Pandora’s non-sentient species. Nemo will also carry very large guns with her ranging from assault rifles to combat shotguns.
Personality:
At first meeting, most people would be utterly divided in their opinion about Nemo or downright annoyed by her. She comes off as dominant and spontaneous, with a questionable attitude that can make her rude or just confusing. She has a tendency to contradict herself, and can occasionally be obnoxious and bossy, but carries herself with a very dignified air. She has a stern, no-nonsense outlook on life, and she often urges others to be the same, leading most people to believe she has no sense of humour whatsoever. She also has a sharp temper, one that is usually set off most easily by comments about her height, whether they are degrading or not. The way Nemo talks and her lack of education also lead people to believe she is stupid. However, Nemo’s intelligence mostly lies in battle strategy and witty ripostes.
Nemo has a tendency to make conclusions about people too quickly, and to fiercely distrust anything that she has a bad impression of. Rich people, for instance, are another thing she hates, mostly for how she was raised, and because of this she rarely offers them her sympathy. Since most of the scientists are rich folk, Nemo doesn’t particularly get along with any of them. Though Pandora and its exotic dangers terrify Nemo, she respects the Na’vi and their culture, and is against making the same mistakes that were made thirty-two years ago. She believes the RDA are watching the scientists for this purpose, and so keeps a close eye on her wards.
Nemo also keeps an eye on her chastity- Nemo has long ago devoted herself to her job, thinking love irrelevant to her lifestyle. Though not war-mongering, her constant need to feel an adrenaline rush often gets Nemo into mock battles with completely unknown people, whether they know the fight is fake or not. Nemo also holds dear such things as honour, loyalty, and compassion- despite her ways of stealth, Nemo despises liars and murderers, and never kills someone unless they have a weapon in their hands.
Talents:
Physical Strength- Since Nemo has achieved a physical balance, she is both strong and agile, although her strength is on the lesser side, if scrutinized closely and critically. She can wield big guns with excellent efficiency, despite her tiny size, but her power to become invisible is her greatest talent. Using a mixture of both patience and agility, she can easily slide through both undergrowth and the compound without making a noise louder than that of a mouse.
Leadership- Although missing such important educational skills as writing, Nemo has a sharp eye for bargains and an even sharper tongue when it comes to diplomacy. Her no-nonsense personality and quick assertion over people can easily lend Nemo the upper hand and control over most situations. Despite how short she is, she has a powerful voice and a mind of metal, and her distinctly less-than-noble upbringing has also given her a certain talent for dealings of a more unscrupulous nature.
Strategy- Nemo spent much of her childhood and adolescent life listening into, and, eventually, plotting out raids. She has proven herself on more than one occasion to be an original and creative thinker, and her mathematical gift has also led her to be a proper strategist. Her keen interest in battle formations of old and combining them to form new plans has given her old ship the upper hand in many battles.
History:
Nemo’s mother Tanaquil Rosov was an Icelandic botanist who went on the first expedition to Pandora. However, when the mission failed miserably and the humans were sent home, she went to London to begin a new life. Once there, she developed certain ‘liaisons’ with various men to secure herself some money and a nice house. One of these liaisons resulted in pregnancy, but Tanaquil never found out the identity of the father. All she knew was that he was a Captain Ramsey of a British military airship. When her daughter was born, Tanaquil gave her his name, calling her Mnemosyne Cecilia Ramsey. However, Tanaquil wasn’t too thrilled with the unexpected bundle of joy, and mostly ignored her, leaving her to be raised by a variety of nurses while she resumed her studies of Pandora. Secretly, Tanaquil had brought floral samples from the moon, and grew them, working them into chemicals. Unfortunately, Tanaquil overestimated her abilities to control the dangerous solutions about four years after Mnemosyne’s birth. The resulting explosion levelled the house, killed Tanaquil, and injured several people, as well as sending Mnemosyne tearing down the streets of London in terror. However, having never been out of the house before, she soon got lost, and was unable to find her way back for several days. When she did, she found the house in fragments with no signs of life.
With nowhere else to go, Mnemosyne wandered the streets for nearly a year, surviving on begging and stealing. On one fine day, she managed to stumble onto the London space docks, where she attracted the eye of two smugglers. Though she was filthy and emaciated, the way she carried herself as well as the ruined, though finely made clothes she wore gave her status away as the child of a rich man. Mnemosyne was promptly stuffed into a potato sack and dragged onboard the spaceship Queen’s Avarice, where she was held for ransom. When Mnemosyne explained her story, however, and no one reported a missing child for several days, the smugglers decided she would be useful as a cleaner and as a false 'hostage' when dealing with police, and she was given a job as a cabin ‘boy’- as they believed her to be a boy. Her name, considered a mouthful, was shortened to Nemo.
Nemo came alive on Queen’s Avarice. Space and its endlessness became her home, and she sprouted like a weed, even though she only served as the cook for seven years. After several failed recipes, she managed to put a proper meal together and proved to be a decent cook. It was a refreshing change from maggoty bread for the crew, which earned her a good deal of warmth from them. However, a drawback to being raised on a smuggler vessel was that Nemo received no proper schooling. The boss, Osiris Hassan, was the only educated person on board, and between teaching her basic marksmanship, beating her ruthlessly when she misbehaved, and disciplining his crew, he only had time to teach her math and reading at a very slow pace. To this day, Nemo is decent at math and has no trouble with reading, but can write very little besides her own name.
Nemo was first allowed to participate in a raid when she was twelve- where, at that point, she started to grow up and it became apparent that she was a girl. Her primary weapons were small, like 10mms, until she was nineteen, when she plundered a massive missile launcher and proved to be quite adept at firing it. With the missile launcher, affectionately nicknamed ‘Big Baby’, Nemo achieved insane collateral damage, which delighted her, and it became her favourite weapon.
However, Nemo’s happy lifestyle took a severe turn when she was twenty-one. Earth, being rather irritated at Queen’s Avarice’s black market smuggling, hired and dispatched an RDA platoon to wipe them out. The soldiers were placed on a cargo ship used as bait for Queen, and the smugglers took it. The RDA tore apart Queen’s hull, capturing all those who weren’t able to board the other ship in time, and murdered several smugglers, including the boss. In a fit of berserker rage, Nemo assaulted them and managed to kill several people, but not before suffering two broken legs, a concussion, and severe bleeding. Eventually, when she finally dropped, one Yuri Varnava, the platoon commander, admired her persistent strength and loyalty. He kept her alive, and when she came round, offered her a proposition. Her crew was going to be thrown into the mines on some distant moon. She, on the other hand, would be heading to Pandora, and would serve as a bodyguard to the scientists heading on an expedition there later that year, but, secretly, would be spying for the RDA. If she agreed, she would escape jail. For every bit of useful information that she fed, one of her crewmates would be freed as well. Nemo, eager to save her crew’s lives, agreed immediately. She was promptly sent back to earth, where she was placed into cryo for the six-year journey to Pandora.
