Name: Riley Cobalt
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Hetero
Race: Human
Occupation: Biological Engineer
Human Physical Description: Riley is an unremarkable girl of unremarkable height. 120 pounds and coming in at 5'3 her athletic build comes from years of Swimming and a side interest in Parkour. Her brunette hair is poker straight and often times seem up in a ponytail or under a hat. Her clothes style itself tends to be unremarkable as well. She sticks to white or grey tank tops in the thick Pandora air and a pair of kaki shorts. It gives her the freedom to move around and not become too hot.
While in her youth the active life style Riley has maintained has given her a fair bit of experience and along with it scars. Her feet, toughened by running with a bare foot or a specialized Parkour shoe have been torn open and healed over countless times, making her soles thick and anything but feminine. Her right leg also shows scars of a bad fall onto blacktop that broke her leg in two places, the long thin line running up her shin a remembrance of the bone that came to be protruding out of her leg.
As a way of remembering that accident that almost ended her life, Riley got herself a tattoo covering her left shoulder, an ancient Earth symbol meaning luck. At least, she hopes that is what it means.
Avatar Physical Description: The Avatar in development for Riley is in an Adolescent state, a problem during the flight causing its growth to be stunted. Currently still growing it will take another year to complete, but as Riley's research for work requires her to go out into the jungles of Pandora, she may compromise and take the Avatar as it is at 6'5.
During the space flight to Pandora, both the system delivering hormones and the lighting sequence to the growing body failed and left the avatar with a slight discoloration. Darker blue than the rest of it's 'batch' it's small size and color hope to be corrected as it spends more time developing inside it's pod.
The Avatar, although not complete still show signs of Riley's athletic nature. It seems her knack for toned muscle is quite genetic as even the adolescent body shows signs of her strength. Also resembling Riley is it's poker straight hair that makes itself present even throughout the long black braid. The Avatar, however doesn't have any of the same scars or toughened skin that Riley possesses, not her endurance as it has never been used.
Personality: Snarky and with a quick whit it is hard for people to get to like Riley. Often times she offends others within a few minutes. Not because she insults them directly of course, but because he lack of giving a shit. In all her years she hasn't found a single person to care enough about to change her ways.
Although she doesn't like to admit it, Riley is quite a bit of a speciesist. She doesn't like the idea of a whole other evolutionary track on a different planet and often blames Pandora for her family's history of tragedy. On Earth she was the typical tomboy, not very lady like and extremely active while now arriving on Pandora simply plans to discover what all the hullabaloo is about and leave.
In honest, Riley doesn't like feeling so small compared to the extraterrestrial world. She doesn't even like feeling small alongside other humans so she tends to make up for it with acting larger than she is. Whether it be trying to bully someone into getting her way or subconsciously being mean to those bigger than her for no reason. She'll more than lash out if she feels threatened by the lumbering neanderthal giants.
Talents: Riley is very talented at being in her own skin. A Parkour enthusiast she is athletic and well able to move about even on Pandora. The thick air and low gravity take quite a bit of getting used to, but she has learned that if she goes out barefoot she can gather more traction. The thicker air also hinders her ability to gain momentum with more pressure against her as she moves, but she has compensated by making herself more aerodynamic in her movements.
Riley is also very skilled at imitation. She can mock animals and it is easy to pick up new vocal patterns. Known most for imitating the animals of Earth, your dolphins, dogs, horses and birds of prey she has recently picked up a few different native Pandora calls.
History: It was no surprise that Mollee Hunt didn't have much of a family. At least, not anymore. As one of the first explorers to the world of Pandora, it had her new love interest, her only love interest. The Na'vi and science her true passions and nothing was going to take that away from her. Head of the collections program, designed to collect various samples before even the first Avatar's were engineered she left Earth without blinking twice, leaving behind her only real family in the form of an adult daughter. Olivia was 25, finished with school and already creating a life of her own with her fiance. No one blamed Mollee for not sticking around just to have an empty nest, though past her life as it so tragically ended on the blue moon, her Daughter's lived on.
Mollee herself died on Pandora, a casualty of the violence that wreaked havoc there. At the age of 50 it was a young and tragic death, causing her become 'one with Eywa' or whatever the freaky blue aliens called their diety. Olivia herself had two daughters and a son, all seemed normal as they lived out their lives, planning to stay on Earth. As the family grew and aged however a strange trend seemed to manifest itself in the women. As Riley turned 18 and her mother Olivia turned 49, her life was tragically ended in a freak accident shuttle leak.
Plagued by what seemed to be a curse of her family, ever since Mollee decided to go to the appalling little moon Pandora, it wasn't just her mother, but every woman in Riley's family had died by the age of 50. Placed more under the suspicion of a tragic coincidence, not many put much in to the old superstition, except for Riley herself. Having seen her only aunt die as well in a bad run in with a serial killer three weeks before hitting the 50 year mark solidified the knowledge. Riley practically knew she was going to die before 50.
Coming up on what she believed to be her mid-life crisis, she intends to stop this horrific trend. 23 years old Riley has made plans to return her family lineage to the blue rock and discover what about the place was so fascinating that Mollee came in the first place.
Not wanting to go for nothing; however, warranting her little ride into space is her Masters in Biological Engineering. It gives her an economic reason for going and although she'll have to work for the ticket, she doesn't care about the job, she just wants to see her mother live past the age of 50. With her physical wellness and degree come with it an Avatar. Although she doesn't really see herself ever wanting to be put into the alien body, she keeps her opinions of the project to herself as to not get the 20 million dollar toy taken away.
A problem during the three year flight to the moon caused the avatar body to stop developing and cease its availability to function. The scientists managed to save its so called 'life' but were unable to reinstate its growth until they reached Pandora. The set back leaves Riley without it for another full year, making her explore the world in her smaller, mortal state.
RP Sample: "I swear to god I'll put you in a crema-box" Hunger, Riley thought she had known the meaning. There was nothing in her 23 years that could have prepared her for this however. The total and complete fatigue that joined together with the pains of a stomach that had been empty for nearly three years hindered her ability to think straight. So they had gone to a different planet, a moon, so what? As finite an operation as this was Riley didn't give a lick about protocol, she wanted something to eat. She would deal with the repercussions of gorging herself later; besides, it wasn't as if she'd actually make her stomach explode, she'd stop before that. But like a grounded child she stood with her arms crossed over her chest, glaring up at the man standing between herself and her goals.
Riley hated her height in that moment, more that she could ever remember. The man in front of her, a military man no less was at least head above her, maybe a full foot if she cared to analyze it. She didn't. The towering man was the only thing standing between her and prospect of a sandwich. He was even smiling, that son of a bitch, somehow amused by Riley's threats and attempts to defy him. She was not here for her amusement, but she supposed she could see things from his point of view, for a nanosecond. A small spitfire scientist mouthing off and ignoring protocol on one of the military personnel, it was quite a role reversal. If she just weren't so hungry she could put him in his place.
"I'll build myself a new stomach or something," she claimed, moving to push past him. She wouldn't really have to build a new stomach, even the thought of such a thing was unpleasant. Artificial or re-grown organs hardly were like the original and she doubted she'd be allowed to eat many of her favorite foods if she became stuck with a hand-me-down. A hand on her chest and a small shove caused her to stumble backward, an incredulous look crossing her face. Riley hardly if ever lost her balance and it was a reminder of her current state. He was going to get it... some day. She wouldn't be able to get around this guy now if she couldn't eat, and she couldn't eat unless she got around this guy! What a ridiculous circle.
Feeling something else hit her chest now, she looked down as she caught the protein bar the man had tossed to her. Glancing up to see his face returning to a straight glare from playful smile it held for a second, she gave a smirk back. So maybe she wasn't going to get this guy, not in her original intentions anyway. Ripping the packaging off the small inch and a half square bar before shoving it in her mouth, she turned to rejoin the other awoken for their post cryo checkups.
