Personality: In short, the best way to describe Alex is 'eccentric'. He is known for having a rather big sense of humor, and possessing a rather cheerful (Albeit eerily so), but calm demeanor. He can keep this demeanor up, even when he is in the middle of tense situations. By extension, he seems about willing to converse with anyone, regardless of if there Na'vi or not. He knows a small amount of the language, but not a sizable amount. He finds the culture interesting, and isn't the least bit phased by them.
He is known to be very particular with his appearance, stemming from his heritage and wanting to keep up a pretense that he is from a rich background. Keeping himself well groomed at nearly all times. This false pretense of nobility, also translates out into his lying capabilities. It is hard to pry the truth from him about his past, and sometimes details that he does say are conflicting with others he says. In other words, he acts as though he is a man without a true identity pretending that he actually has one.
If pushed hard enough though, he can be downright brutal. While he will rarely lose his cool, if one upsets him enough he will ensure to find any opportunity to make them either suffer or end up with them being completely humiliated in public. If made to completely lose his cool though, he is known to be very unpredictable and will normally lash out at even innocent bystanders. However, it takes a lot of stress to get him to this stage. Even if he doesn't resort much to violence, he is by no means a pacifist.
Finally, is his actual intelligence. He is no rocket scientist, in fact he even failed chemistry multiple times throughout his high-school years. However, he is a very good tactician, normally thinking out a basic plan for operation and taking in any future factors with the preparation of fully altering it. He is not a big fan of going in and causing large amounts of damage, preferring much more subtle plans. But, he is known to abandon it if it is not appropriate. He also knows a rather big amount about weapon maintenance and knowledge, as well as what weapons best fit certain situations.
Talents: As stated previously, Alex posses' a great deal of tactical knowledge as well as weapon knowledge. Both of which work well with his current position, and help him in his daily life as a member of RDA security. Regardless though, he does have some other talents. He is rather skilled with most forms of medium and light weaponry, such as assault rifles and handguns, but he's far from an expert marksman. He also posses' a very basic understanding of using a bow, having taken a few archery lessons when he was much younger.
His hand to hand combat skills are fairly crude, but stable, being more like an average brawler then a trained martial artist. Heavy weaponry, and most of the heavy duty vehicles are out of the question for his knowledge, plus he doesn't really have much in the way of good accuracy when forced to use much bigger and clunky weapons.
History: Alex was born into a rather low-earning family, which was not quite poverty, but still not up to reasonable living conditions. He had no siblings, as his family could not afford to support any other children, but he did have an elder sister who had died accidently by a drunk driver. His mother worked as a cleaner for hire, while his father was unemployed due to having lost one of his legs in the same accident that took his sisters life. As a result, he learned rather quickly that not everything was at his fingertips, as some other, more privileged children were easily able to have. His family barely had enough to support his education at low end schools, using a government pension to pay for his education. He was mainly fascinated by the ancient generals, learning of many famous battles and methods such as the Gaulic wars and the campaign of Alexander the great. This man, in particular, became something of an idol for the young Alex.
The shortage of money meant he couldn’t invest much time in hobbies, gifts or other basic luxuries. For his birthday, he would get only a small amount of money, and Christmas was practically unheard of. By fifteen, he was growing increasingly tired of his lifestyle, and his overall situation. The only thing he had been able to do in his life, was a couple of archery lessons for a brief period when he was eight, and go unrecognized by his peers at school. He knew he couldn’t go to a university, and had to pull out of high school at the end of his current year. Ambition and anger swelled within him, finding a motivation to rise above the rest and become the kind of person that he was never allowed to be in life. So, when the time came and he was forced to leave school, with no profession to turn to, he turned instead to something else, being a con-man.
Alex, during the next years, would be your average ‘perfect man’. Conning people out of money through any method he could; fake-business deals, false identity and fake contracts. Never using the same name, or the same story, he swindled what he could. He was an expert of having people part with money or highly priced belongings, using this to his advantage and always seeming to be ‘acting’. But, he forgot one important thing about his newfound life, the fact that his past would eventually all catch up to him. For all his abilities as a liar, all his false pretense he was a rich man, those he had left with nothing eventually begun to track him down. All the business-men he had double crossed, all the average workers he had stolen from, they begun to track him down with a vengeance. Knowing that he was a dead man, he went on the run and did what he could to hide from those seeking his head. And also the authorities
It was when he was twenty-four, having fled to the other side of the country where nobody knew him; he signed on with training under the R.D.A. Whether it was because of the fact he wanted to make sure he was ready if anyone ever found him, or because he wanted to start again and cover his tracks, is unknown even to him. He proved to pick up on the life of a soldier with relative ease, having a rather large determination to achieve the best he could. After his training was complete, he was offered his first assignment. Pandora. Without hesitation, he took it and boarded the ship to take him to the planet.
Once he had arrived there, he felt a great sense of ease and happiness, as if he felt he had totally left behind his former life altogether. He took to his newfound job with a great deal of enthusiasm, not even finding the Na’vi that scary. But, even on Pandora, he is constantly watching his back. Hoping nobody from the past is able to track him down, or worse yet, have those who are his bosses find out about it.
