Name: Jai’taw’rurok “Jai”
Age: 32
Secret Word: Done and sent
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Hetero
Race: Na'vi
Tribe: Aylukana
Mount: Jai’s Ikran is a very noble creature. He is deep purple in color with dark blue wings and a larger than average head crest of deep crimson in color. His eyes are a reddish gold color and both his queue are the same red as his crest. Just like his Na’vi, Ata is a rather ornery Ikran, and is known to snap, hiss and growl at others of his species and other Na’vi alike. The only exception would be Jai’s siblings and their ikran. If Jai is nearby, he is pretty pliant, and enjoys being scratched under his wings. Ata has many large, curved scars that trace his body, evidence of a Toruk attack.
Physical Description:
Jai is of average height for his people. He stands at a little over ten feet tall, and is a bit more muscular than most Na’vi. He has the typical cyan colored skin of the Na’vi, with somewhat more purple colored markings than most of his kin. His ‘hair’ is cut in a traditional way, the sides of it shaved so that what is left falls back to blend with his queue. His left ear has a couple piercings in it, three small bone loops on top of it and a small fang that hangs down in the lower part of it. Jai’s eyes have an almost red rim around his pupil that blends into the gold of his eyes.
All Na’vi have extended canine teeth, but Jai’s seem especially large and sharp, the man not afraid to use them if needed. His face has a slight scar that goes from his bottom lip on the left down to his chin, two thin lines. Jai’s scars are more numerous than just the facial one. His left arm, chest, and back are heavily scarred from what look like giant teeth or claws, a gift from the very same toruk that scarred Ata. In Jai’s opinion, these scars are what show the pairs devotion to one another.
Clothing wise Jai wears items that are most efficient. His loincloth is a dark red in color, and forms the only piece of clothing he wears. As a warrior, he wears braces on his shin for protection in hand to hand encounters. His forearms sport similar braces, but these are much more wicked. On the part that rests on top of his hand a pair of black, curved talon-like claws extend about four inches outward. If disarmed, Jai will then use his martial prowess to take down the enemy.
Weapon wise, Jai embodies a warrior of his people. His ranged weapon is a three foot long blowgun made of a bamboo-like wood. The wood is a mottled blue and green color. The edge that the dart comes out is adorned with green feathers that point down towards Jai when held up. His melee weapons are by far one of Jai’s deadliest, and most devastating tools. They go by Ska’a Fpom, the English translation being “Destroyer of Peace”. These weapons can best be compared to a pair of axes, or spiked clubs. Hard wood given by one of Eywa’s many trees form the body of these weapons, strong as iron but light as titanium. The bottom of the hilt and top of the weapons have been carved to a point, perfect for stabbing. Around the head of them though, lay Ska’a Fpom’s deadliest addition. Teeth from a local water predator line the edges of these weapons, giving them the incredible seriating power of the beast that once owned them. These teeth are hard to shatter, but if they break into flesh when struck, the more that muscle moves, the deeper those pieces dig.
-The Ska’a Fpom
Personality:
Jai, to say the least, is hot headed. Even among his own people he is easily angered, but will still hold back. The only people he ever really lets his guard down around would be his siblings, but only if alone with them. Jai’s years with them have formed a deep bond, and he trusts them with his life. His siblings in fact are the only one’s to have ever seen him genuinely smile, something Liyani has always told him he has a handsome one. Besides his siblings, the only other person he trusts would be Ata, his ikran. Though not a person in the traditional way, Jai treats him as if he was apart of the family. Sarcastic or excited grins can be common when in combat, as well as taunts.
The warrior revels in combat, an obvious natural at it, excited shouts and howls common with him. Jai is relentless when fighting, a torrent of sheer Na’vi might. Mercy in combat is a foreign thing to Jai, the only thing that would be able to stop him is an intervention either through his siblings or through Eywa.
Despite his less than friendly disposition, Jai is devoted to Eywa. The warrior sees himself as a protector of sorts to his tribe and to Eywa, if he sees any sky people near anything sacred, he will kill them on the spot, intervention or not. Jai has never told anyone, but he secretly wishes for a worthy mate to come along, a warrior woman of sorts. His hot headed nature and ornery disposition bury a potentially loving man.
When it comes to the sky people, for lack for a better term, he hates them more than anything else. In his mind, Jai never got to meet his parents because of them, and he’s partly true. Unless any of his siblings are around, he will try to kill any humans he finds in the forest. Jai probably hasn’t ever said more than a sentence to any human, he prefers to sit and watch them when dealing with negotiations.
Talents:
Warrior: Jai is an impressive warrior for his clan. Trained and skilled with a number of weapons. He is fierce and damn near unstoppable when in the heat of the moment, Jai has never backed down before in a fight. Along with his skills with melee weapons, Jai is skilled in hand to hand combat, his bracers aid with both delivering and blocking blows.
Ikran Makto: Like all hunters and warriors that have made the bond, Jai is as natural flying with Ata as he is walking in the forest. Ata and Jai are codependent on one another, acutely aware of each others' presence even when not bonded. It isn't uncommon for Jai to call or refer to Ata as "Brother"
Hunter/ Tracker: Even though Jai is more of a warrior than a hunter, he still utilizes his time hunting and tracking for his tribe. He has learned the way of the jungle, the subtle smells and sounds speaking more to him than any sight.
History:
Born one of four children to Mise’nahi and Tsu’rurok thirty-two years ago, Jai’taw’rurok never knew his parents, but was named after his father. Only his family ever called him “Rurok”, the boy preferred to go by “Jai” to not be reminded of the parents he never knew. Because of this, even from a young age Jai preferred not to hear about the Sky People, and this would turn into true hate later in life. Though young at the time, he still remembers watching as the Aylukana warriors came back from the war against and never seeing his parents return. Because of his parent’s deaths, Jai’s grandparents raised the children.
His raising was typical of a Na’vi family, he played with his siblings and explored what tiny bit of the jungle they were allowed. Unlike his siblings, Jai had a tendency to get into squabbles with other children his age, the lad over sensitive in general. Luckily for him though, as Jai began to get older, he was able to reign in his anger more and more. This would allow Jai to begin to focus it when training to be a warrior under his grandfather.
Alongside his siblings Jai was more than enough for them to handle when practicing. He might have been smaller than Rai, slower than Liyani, and less intelligent than Tsteu, but his ferocity knew no bounds. Among all the warriors and hunters in the Aylukana, Jai stood out as one of the fiercest protectors among them. When he was sixteen he went with the rest of his tribe to where the ikran lived, and he met his surrogate brother, Ata. Both Na’vi and Banshee fought tooth and nail to be the victorious one, but in the end, Jai came out on top. The two have been nearly inseparable since.
The four siblings were a group that made their grandparents proud, all great at what they did. Jai especially looked up to Rai, the larger, older brother modeled how the young warrior wanted to be. It saddened Jai greatly the day his grandfather died, the man who was the father figure and mentor to Jai was a great loss to him. If losing his father figure wasn’t bad enough, that same year, his brother was mated into the Rokure clan. It felt like everyone was leaving him at once. Luckily for him, Rai, Liyani and Ata were all still there.
That almost wasn’t true though, one day, while the siblings were out hunting, their last shadow was almost seen. A toruk larger than any Jai had ever seen or heard of descended on them. A fierce struggle ensued, at one point, the toruk’s jaws clamped down on Ata and Jai, its claws tore at flesh and for a moment, the pair thought that it was over for them. But Jai wouldn’t have any of it, he grabbed one of his war axes and dug it deep into one of the toruk’s eyes. The behemoth let Jai and Ata free, but the pair blacked out from the pain and shock of what happened.
He awoke hours later back in the Aylukana village to his surprise, his wounds bandaged and a patched up Ata at his side. Liyani and Rai had brought the pair back, all looked relieved to be alive, but also like they might have soiled their loincloths. Jai was grateful to be alive, but disappointed to hear that Rai didn’t slay the beast. However, he knew that it would be very unlikely to do. It would take weeks for Jai to recover from his attack, and during these weeks was when rumors of the sky people’s return were spreading.
Jai was jealous that Liyani got to accompany their olo’eyktan to the negotiations with the humans, but he was still recovering from his injuries, he was in no condition to be moving. However, the first day he did come face to face with the dreamwalkers, Rai had to stop his brother from burying a dart into their eye. Jai learned that day that as long as his siblings were near him, the sky people would remain untouched by him. But if he were to meet them, one on one in the jungles of Pandora, that would be another story…
